Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu has praised midfielder Archie Gray for impressing in his first season of senior football.

Daniel Farke’s side are aiming to find much more consistency in their performances this season, and so far, the midfield has been up to the task for him.

At the heart of it has been Ethan Ampadu, who has played every game so far for Leeds and impressed in the process.

Alongside Ampadu at the start of the season was Archie Gray, making his senior bow at the age of 17, and doing very well too – looking much more mature than his age would suggest.

Glen Kamara’s arrival has disrupted the pecking order in a healthy way, but Gray is still catching the eye as such a key option for a promotion-chasing side.

Ampadu has since spoken about Gray’s talents, talking to The72, where he said this:

“Yes, I’ve been very impressed. Me and him get on quite well. He’s young, but he doesn’t play like a young man, he’s experienced. I don’t want to speak too much of him because he’ll probably get too excited about it.

“His performances have shown everyone what he can do but he also knows that he’s still at the start of his career and he’s still got a long way to go. Anything I can do to try and help him with that I will.

Gray and Ampadu formed a brilliant partnership early in the season, and it’s incredible to think they are 22 and 17.

They are both so much more mature than you would think for their age, and that is a really important characteristic to have.

Gray, as Ampadu points out, still has a long way to go in the game and he needs to stay grounded, but you can see where his career is headed.
