Leeds boss praises Bamford cameo against QPR.

The forward was ruled out for months with an injury he sustained in a pre season friendly against Hearts. The hamstring injury kept the Englishman out for the first few months of Leeds’ campaign.

The 30-year old made his return as a second half substitute in the 1-0 win over QPR. The Whites scored just after nine minutes as a beautiful cross field pass from Georginio Rutter found Crysencio Summerville who made no mistake from close range. Bamford had an impactful cameo as he came on, held the ball well and drew an important foul which saw QPR keeper Asmir Begovic sent off late in the game.

After the match, Daniel Farke says Bamford’s substitute appearance was very “crucial”:

“It’s top drawer to have an option like Patrick there. We’ve missed him while he was away and to be able to bring on a proven goalscorer at this level, was quite crucial.

The Englishman will have to earn his place back in the team after the lively start to the season by both Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter who have combined for nine league goals this season.Leeds host Bristol City at Elland Road this weekend
