New Vencouver hockey team debut in 2025 PWHL Season.
The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) has announced the addition of Vancouver as its first expansion franchise for the 2025–26 season. This marks the league’s seventh team, joining existing franchises in Boston, Minnesota, Montreal, New York, Ottawa, and Toronto.
The Vancouver team, temporarily named PWHL Vancouver, will play its home games at the historic Pacific Coliseum, former home of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks. The team’s primary colors will be Pacific blue and cream. A permanent team name and branding will be announced at a later date.
This expansion follows the success of the PWHL’s Takeover Tour, which included a game in Vancouver that drew over 19,000 fans, demonstrating strong local support for women’s professional hockey.
The PWHL operates under a single-entity ownership model supported by philanthropists Mark and Kimbra Walter, with tennis legend Billie Jean King serving on its Board of Directors.
