Broncos sign Super Bowl champion as veteran navigates injury

The Denver Broncos have bolstered their defense by signing two-time Super Bowl champion Frank Clark to a one-year, $5.5 million contract. Clark, 30, brings 58.5 career sacks to the Broncos, having previously played for the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs. His addition comes in response to the injury of starting outside linebacker Baron Browning, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery following a partially torn meniscus. (9News)

Clark’s experience and pass-rushing prowess are expected to provide immediate support to the Broncos’ linebacker corps. His presence aims to mitigate the impact of Browning’s absence and strengthen the team’s defensive line.

Additionally, the Broncos have signed linebacker Dre Greenlaw to a three-year, $35 million contract. Greenlaw, 26, previously played for the San Francisco 49ers, where he earned first-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl selection in 2022. Despite suffering an ACL tear in 2023 and a wrist injury in 2024, Greenlaw has recorded 219 tackles and seven interceptions over 49 games in his career. (Wikipedia, Reuters)

These strategic signings reflect the Broncos’ commitment to strengthening their defense and addressing key positions impacted by injuries. With the addition of experienced and accomplished players like Clark and Greenlaw, the team aims to enhance its competitive edge in the upcoming season.(Wikipedia)

As the season progresses, the Broncos will continue to monitor the health and performance of their roster, making adjustments as necessary to maintain a formidable defense.
