Crystal Palace have recently been linked with a move for RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner, who could be on the move in the January transfer window.

Reports have emerged in the last few days that the Bundesliga club are willing to sell the German international, who has fallen out of favour at the club.

Werner has previous experience in the Premier League, having had a short spell at Chelsea where he was overall fairly unimpressive, but he was part of the side which won the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel.

Crystal Palace are among the clubs who are eyeing up a loan deal for the 27-year-old, who could be open to a return to London.

Werner has started in just two of his eight Bundesliga appearances this season, and has two goals to his name in 203 minutes of action.

Having initially joined Chelsea from Leipzig, he returned to the club for £25.3m in 2022, and scored 16 times in 40 games last season

The emergence of Benjamin Sesko, as well as the arrival of Loic Openda, have meant that Werner has fallen down the pecking order, and Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace are interested in a loan deal.

Should Werner be available on loan, Crystal Palace should aim to recruit him ahead of the likes of West Ham and Brentford.

Crystal Palace are struggling in front of goal despite having a strong base at the back, and Werner could fit into the side perfectly.

Werner is renowned for his speed, and can play on the wings as well as a central striker. With the likes of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise alongside him, he could be an excellent outlet upfront under Roy Hodgson.

A fresh start at Crystal Palace, where he would be a key figure in the team, could give Werner a confidence boost to find his form in front of goal.

If he is available on loan, then a short-term deal in January would be a low-risk move for Crystal Palace to add a talented attacker to their squad, and if he does well, then a permanent deal could be explored in the summer.
