Due to his involvement in last Sunday’s sideline altercation with San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro will not be permitted to be on the Philadelphia sideline during the team’s game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.
The Eagles released a statement on Saturday that stated, “We are going to respect the restriction that is currently in place. This is an ongoing conversation with the NFL.” “Although Dom will not be on the sideline this Sunday, he will continue to fulfill his role with the team in all other capacities.”
DiSandro will not be on the sidelines, but he is permitted to travel to Dallas with the Eagles and perform all of his regular tasks.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell met with DiSandro and other Eagles officials on Friday at the league office in New York, according to league sources. The league is currently examining more evidence to determine whether additional sanctions are necessary.
All teams were reminded in a memo sent by the NFL on Wednesday to “please ensure that all members of your game-day staff understand that their role does not extend to being involved with game day altercations and that they must refrain from such involvement.”
Greenlaw said on Wednesday that he apologized to DiSandro through a middleman.
“We just exchanged a formal apology just between me and [Niners general manager John Lynch] and some of the same people that we do know in the building and stuff like that,” Greenlaw stated. “He struck me as a sincere man. Looked like a guy that the whole building was in love with. To be honest, I detest that. I detest that it even got to that point and escalated.”
