Despite starting as underdogs in Indianapolis, the Steelers manage to secure a playoff spot, with Joe Flacco starring in Cleveland.

Right now, the Pittsburgh Steelers are a complete mess. Despite all the other NFL outcomes in Week 13, they have managed to secure a postseason spot.

On Monday’s “First Call,” we discuss how that can be accomplished.

We also examine the Steelers’ opponent for the upcoming week. We examine Joe Flacco’s ascent in Cleveland as well. We also discuss the successful weekend performances of the Duquesne women’s basketball team and Robert Morris hockey.

Even after suffering terrible back-to-back losses to the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals, the Steelers finished Week 13 still with a chance to make the playoffs.

The squad led by Mike Tomlin improved from 6-3 to 7-6. However, the Steelers are the best of the group in tiebreakers, with five other AFC teams also sitting at 7-6. As a result, they are currently the second wild card, or sixth seed.

After defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 31–27 on Sunday, the Browns have improved to 8–5, and they currently occupy the top wild-card spot. For the Browns, tight end David Njoku had a fantastic day.

Njoku finished with six catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Next week, they play host to the Chicago Bears.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-6) lost 34-14 to Cincinnati (7-6) on Sunday, but they still own the third and last wild-card spot.

The Colts in Indianapolis on Saturday, December 16, and the Bengals at Acrisure Stadium on Saturday, December 23, are the Steelers’ next two opponents. Seth Walder of ESPN.com reports that the Steelers, who are 7-6, have the fourth-best chance of making the playoffs at just 34%.
