Many NFL fans believe that during his rookie season with the Carolina Panthers, Bryce Young’s chances of making it in the league are already slim. The first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft suffered as a result of numerous poor decisions made by the Panthers organization.
After Frank Reich, the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, was unable to make any progress with Matt Ryan and Carson Wentz, the Panthers hired him. He was fired by the Panthers in mid-season.
In addition, the Panthers made some odd selections prior to selecting a quarterback in the April draft. Wide receiver D.J. Moore, who was their most gifted offensive player, was traded to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a first-round selection. As part of their agreement with the Panthers for the first overall pick, the Bears demanded Moore, defensive end Brian Burns, or defensive tackle Derrick Brown.
Rather than giving the Bears a defender, the Panthers decided to give them Moore. When Young joined the team, the offensive line and wide receivers’ room were subpar. The Panthers’ offensive line is ranked 31st in pass blocking this season, per Pro Football Focus.
Young’s performance with the 1-12 Panthers this year hasn’t improved. The Panthers are expected to give the Bears the first pick in 2024. Fans are fearing that the Panthers have already destroyed Young after seeing this replay of a horrendous overthrow by Young to Jonathan Mingo against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
Young has a 58.5 completion percentage this season for 2,192 yards, nine touchdowns, and nine interceptions after the Panthers’ lopsided loss to the Saints on Sunday. Following the game, supporters vented their worries about X’s career on social media.
