Former Toronto Blue Jays and Milwaukee Brewers Slugger Signed by Pittsburgh Pirates raucous Tellez

First baseman Rowdy Tellez, a free agent, and the Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to a one-year contract, according to a report published Tuesday night by FanSided’s Robert Murray.

According to Murray, the deal is still pending a physical. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports that Tellez has a $3.2 million guaranteed payment due to him, with an additional $800K in performance bonuses available.

In 105 games as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023, Tellez hit.215 with 13 home runs, 47 RBI, a.667 OPS, and a -0.6 WAR. Notably, the slugger finished a blowout in September by taking the mound and recording the final three outs Milwaukee needed to secure a postseason berth.

The Brewers originally acquired Tellez in 2021 as part of a midseason trade with the Toronto Blue Jays. Tellez played two more seasons in Milwaukee and over three in Toronto. He has a career batting average of.233 through 533 games, 92 home runs, 263 RBI, and a.750 OPS.
