The Hogs defeat Georgia by the third-largest margin of victory in an SEC game.

The Arkansas women’s basketball team (13-4, 1-1 SEC) overcame their defeat on Thursday, defeating Georgia (10-5, 1-1 SEC) 83-43, winning the game from start to finish. In addition to tying a season high margin of victory, Arkansas’ 40-point victory in their first SEC win of the year represented the third-largest margin of victory in an SEC game in school history. This season, the Bulldogs have surrendered the most points in a game—83—to the Hogs. With a season-high 24 points from Makayla Daniels, four Hogs scored in double figures. In addition, the Hogs shot just 27 percent from the field while matching a season-high 14 triples made by Georgia. Arkansas ended a four-game losing streak as well.

Arkansas began the game 0-for-2, but Carly Keats discovered an opening Makayla Daniels, who made the first of the Hogs’ fourteen 3-pointers of the contest. The Hogs took a 5-0 lead early in the game thanks to Daniels’ and-1. After Daniels made her second triple of the game, Georgia answered with a contested jumper from the field. After Maryam Dauda missed a layup to get her first basket of the game, Keats made a rim-runner.

Arkansas was ahead, 13–6, at the 4:26 media timeout. Dauda’s 4-of-4 performance from the free throw line at the half ignited an 8-0 run. With three minutes remaining in the half, Georgia called a timeout as the Hogs led 10–19–6 thanks to a Keats jumper. Daniels answered with her third triple of the game as Georgia responded with a 3-pointer right out of the break. By the end of the first quarter, the Hogs were ahead 24 to 9, having made 7 of 7 free throws and committing no turnovers.
