If given the chance, the Pittsburgh Steelers ought to bring on a second excellent coach to join their group.

Pittsburgh — For now, the Pittsburgh Steelers are focused only on the playoffs and the Wild Card round; they are not considering the NFL coaching carousel. However, after the season is over, they ought to check up on some names that are still open; if Mike Vrabel is among them, they ought to give him a call.

Vrabel shouldn’t take over as head coach of the Steelers. Vrabel won’t be the next head coach they appoint. Mike Tomlin is here to stay, and the team will carry over most of the coaching staff into 2024, with the exception of an offensive coordinator change.

Assessing his interest in a role akin to Brian Flores is the right course of action. Why not try to bring him in to assist with coaching the defense and perhaps even give him the title of “assistant coach” if he is unable to land a head coaching position elsewhere this offseason

Then he’s one of the most sought-after candidates for head coaching when the Steelers’ defense performs admirably for the second time in a year.

It seems like it will benefit both parties. The Steelers will have to wait until all, if not most, of the head coaching positions are filled, but in the event that Vrabel is unable to secure a position, he might as well spend a year in Pittsburgh to strengthen his resume; in turn, Pittsburgh might as well add another exceptional coach in Vrabel.
