In-demand is Brian Callahan, the offensive coordinator for the Bengals.
The Cincinnati Bengals are one of many teams in the midst of their NFL offseason. Their assistants will probably be seen outside the building after they were able to retain their current staff following appearances in both the AFC Championship game and the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons.
Offensive coordinator Brian Callahan appears to be the most in demand member of the Bengals staff. The Bengals had to modify their offense after losing Joe Burrow for the season, but they were successful in doing so. Over the course of the last seven games, they have won four and produced a respectable amount of offensive output.
It appears that multiple teams are interested in the offense that is persevering even after losing their franchise quarterback. Regarding their head coaching openings, the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, and Los Angeles Chargers have scheduled talks with Callahan.
The Indianapolis Colts were Callahan’s only real suitor during the previous offseason. Callahan interviewed extensively with the Colts prior to their selection of Shane Steichen.
Given that four teams have already reserved time with Callahan, this would be the first significant departure through promotion in the Zac Taylor era. Taylor may also be looking to replace Callahan as offensive coordinator.
We can hope he hires his father, Bill Callahan, the offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns, if he decides to leave Cincinnati. Brian can at least get Bill out of the division for us on his way out if we have to lose him.
