Transfer DB from Memphis Cameron Smith decides to join TCU.

Cameron Smith, a former Memphis safety, made a commitment to TCU football on Saturday through the transfer portal. Smith was the third player to share his commitment to the Horned Frogs on social media during the day. During his three years with the Tigers, Smith played in 31 games and totaled 74 tackles, 10 passes defensed, and 3 interceptions. Smith had his best season in 2023, making 13 appearances and totaling 57 tackles, nine passes defensed, and three interceptions.

The 6-foot, 180-pound player from Whiteville, North Carolina, joins former Tulsa defensive back Jaise Oliver as the second safety addition made by the Horned Frogs this offseason. This upcoming season, Smith will fight for a starting safety position at TCU as the Horned Frogs look to replace starters Mark Perry and Millard Bradford. Moreover, TCU lost several players to the transfer portal, including Randon Fontenette, Chace Biddle, and Javeon Wilcox.
