Leeds United’s 18 summer departures have fared well at th’eir new teams, with red cards, acclaim, and ailments.

The summer of transition at Elland Road saw an exodus of players following Leeds United’s relegation from the Premier League.

Leeds United had 18 players leave Elland Road during the transfer window in a summer that few will soon forget. The Whites found themselves at the mercy of exit clauses this season, as player after player decided they would be better served playing football elsewhere.

Leeds Live looks at how those departed players have settled into their new clubs.

Al Qadsiah – Joel Robles

The Spanish custodian, who spent only one season at Leeds, turned down the chance to return for pre-season training in order to accept a deal with Saudi Arabia’s second division. Robles has made four appearances for Al Qadsiah so far, recording two clean sheets to help Robbie Fowler’s team start the season unbeaten.

Djed Spence’s attacking flair is what Daniel Farke wants to see from him as he settles into life at Leeds United. Spence made his debut in white last weekend against Sheffield Wednesday after joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the dying days of the summer window.

The right-back only played nine minutes of regular time after replacing Luke Ayling in the 81st minute, but he gave a decent account of himself in front of an eager Elland Road crowd. He was forced into rearguard duty quickly after entering the fight and used his speed in possession to get forward down the flank a couple of times before the referee called time.

What we can spend on the training pitch will be really valuable to him, but I believe he has shown flashes.

“I would have preferred him to be a little bit higher and to show us like his quality in one-on-one situations close to the opponent’s box, but he was also one time good in recovery and repairing a mistake in order to avoid a counter-attack because such a game develops quite frequently.”
