Octopus Thrower’s staff will take some time to grade the Detroit Red Wings roster using midseason report cards as the All-Star Break approaches.

In January, the Detroit Red Wings had an incredible month. They rebounded well into the postseason race after putting up a 20-point month. The team will get some time off during the All-Star break, which follows, with only Alex DeBrincat qualifying for the All-Star Game.

The Detroit Red Wings will take a break, though, in the hopes of rejuvenating their squad and having them fully fit for the second half of the season. Detroit needs to put on a strong second half if it is to continue fighting.

The Octopus Thrower staff will examine the Red Wings roster after 50 games to assess the team’s current state and potential future direction before turning the page to the second half of the season.

In the process, we will create report cards for the Red Wings players, assigning grades and spending time discussing what they are doing well and what they might need to adjust. Now is a great time to assess Detroit and determine what went well and poorly.
