Red Sox president believes team will make roster additions before Opening Day

Sam Kennedy, the team president and chief executive officer, stated that he still believes the Red Sox will add players to their 2024 roster, along with payroll, nine days before the first official workout for pitchers and catchers takes place in Fort Myers.

Kennedy, who met with fans on Van Ness Street alongside chief baseball officer Craig Breslow during “Truck Day” celebrations at Fenway Park, expressed his opinion that Boston’s roster is still a work in progress.

The Red Sox have only slightly altered the core of their roster thus far. While making three major trades (sending Alex Verdugo to the Yankees, acquiring Tyler O’Neill from St. Louis, and trading Chris Sale for Vaughn Grissom with the Braves), Boston has only signed one significant free agent, Lucas Giolito.
