“A true loss for the Auburn community”: Terry Beasley is remembered by friends and teammates.

Terry Beasley, whose name is still etched in the Auburn record books more than 50 years after he played his last game for the Tigers, was honored on Thursday for his work ethic, toughness, and astounding speed and athletic ability.

Terry Beasley, whose name is still etched in the Auburn record books more than 50 years after he played his last game for the Tigers, was honored on Thursday for his work ethic, toughness, and astounding speed and athletic ability.

But, those who knew Beasley opted to recall him not as the man who was “sick for 40 years,” as Terry Henley, a former teammate, put it, but rather as half of the renowned “Sullivan to Beasley” duo that shaped Auburn football between 1969 and 1971. With a big help from Beasley at wide receiver, Sullivan, the Tigers’ senior quarterback, won the Heisman Trophy.

Tyreek Hill, an NFL star who plays for Miami, is the only player who I can compare to Terry Beasley, according to Henley, an All-SEC running back at Auburn who finished a year behind Sullivan and Beasley. He stood at around five feet ten or eleven inches tall, with only muscles connecting his ears to his ankles. You wouldn’t believe it if you saw him in the changing room wearing only shorts. He didn’t even lift weights, but he had the physique of a bodybuilder.TERRY BEASLEY - al.com

It came from God alone. Right off the line, he was so explosive. He left you in one swift motion. He was gone in a single stride, my friend. He was simply incredibly talented.
