Dallas Cowboys prevent Washington Commanders from speaking with Al Harris, the defensive backs coach

Now that Dan Quinn has officially been the head coach of the Washington Commanders for a week instead of just one week, a few things have happened with the Dallas coaching staff. Quinn was the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys. Although Quinn’s absence at the coordinator position has not yet been filled by the Cowboys, Washington was able to snag one of the potential replacements. Quinn was followed to Washington by Joe Whitt Jr., and rumors circulated that others might follow.

According to reports on Wednesday, Dallas denied Washington’s request to interview Cowboys tight ends coach Lunda Wells for their offensive line position. Another report along these lines surfaced on Thursday morning, stating Quinn wanted to speak with defensive backs coach Al Harris. Dallas did not permit Washington to speak with Pete Ohnegian or Sharrif Floyd, but they did block that as well.

The Cowboys’ secondary players have been playing exceptionally well lately, and Trevon Diggs even pushed for Al Harris to take over as the team’s defensive coordinator right after Quinn left. It makes sense that Mike McCarthy would want to retain Al Harris and continue to gain from his growth as a coach, considering that he was the player-coach of Harris during his playing career.
