Mike Zimmer is the only coach in Darren Woodson’s career that he has greater respect for.

They played together for the Dallas Cowboys from 1994 until 2003. Woodson was selected for all five of his Pro Bowl trips following Zimmer’s 1994 arrival in Dallas as a defensive assistant. During a career that saw Woodson become the Cowboys’ all-time leading tackler, Zimmer served as his defensive backs coach for five seasons before taking on the role of coordinator for the final four.

Dan Quinn is being replaced by Zimmer as the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys. “He doesn’t have any ‘back up’ in him,” Woodson said of Zimmer. “He intends to plant his feet. He’s like Bill Parcells in that he will fight you tooth and nail. You will follow his instructions. He may not be your closest pal. It won’t be all cuddles and good vibes. That isn’t taking place. He will put you to the test.”
