Three practical coaches will take Juwan Howard’s place at Michigan basketball.

The season is mercifully over, but Juwan Howard’s time at Michigan basketball won’t be evaluated just yet. They will have to put up with the disappointing outcomes until then. Warde Manuel will give him one last chance or look elsewhere come off-season. Although he insists that his approach is effective, some fans and players don’t agree.

He lost his best player to the transfer portal, and the university’s admissions office hasn’t helped him either by turning away recruits who made commitments to play for him. Still, this is likely to happen under the new coach. These three coaches are the ones who, in all likelihood, ought to be in the running for the position if Manuel makes the decision to fire Howard.

Before joining UNLV, Otzelberger won the Summit League twice while at South Dakota State. In his debut season in Vegas, he placed second best overall. Due to his prior experience there, he advanced to Iowa State after their previous coach was fired. He’s also commended for being an excellent recruiter. But in the big dance, he is 2-4 and will only make it to the sweet 16 once in 2022. He leads the Big 12 conference standings this year and has victories over two of the top ten teams, Kansas and Houston. Compared to Howard’s team, whose defense surrenders 80 points per game, his team ranks sixth in terms of points allowed per game.
