Ryan Grubb discusses his sudden resignation from Alabama and why the Seahawks’ opening night is his “unicorn event.
Ryan Grubb has desired to go there. years at a time. And as soon as he arrived, he desired to be with this coach. On Thursday, Grubb made his first remarks in public as the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks. He said that his new position is so ideal that it’s, well, legendary.
“Wow, this is like the unicorn event in coaching,” Grubb remarked at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center of the Seahawks, which is located across Lake Washington from the Washington offensive coordinator position he held for his final two college seasons. He talked about his introduction to Mike Macdonald, the new head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. It happened at the Indianapolis NFL scouting combine the previous year.
Grubb was there in March 2023 as the University of Washington’s offensive coordinator, guiding Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. through a league event for underclassmen with NFL futures. Macdonald was scouting collegians entering the draft last year, in his second and final year as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.
