Keon Coleman, a wide receiver for Florida State, is a desirable draft choice for the Dallas Cowboys.

Thursday, April 25, is the date of the 2024 NFL Draft’s first round. With Michigan defensive tackle Mazi Smith, the Dallas Cowboys’ first draft choice last year at 26th overall, they haven’t yet received the kind of play they were hoping for. The Dallas front office had hit gold with their previous three first-round picks before choosing Smith.

WR CeeDee Lamb was chosen by them with the 17th overall pick in 2020. Lamb, who is coming off a career year in which he recorded 135 receptions for 1,749 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, has been selected to three Pro Bowls in just four seasons. LB Micah Parsons was chosen by the team with the 11th overall pick in 2021. Choosing Parsons was the Cowboys’ lottery win. Regardless of the position, he has been arguably the best player from that class, totaling 40.5 sacks and three All-Pro selections in his three seasons in the league. OL Tyler Smith was chosen by the front office in 2022 with the 24th overall pick. For the Cowboys, a once divisive choice has matured like a fine wine: Smith was chosen

In this year’s draft, the Cowboys have the 24th overall pick once more. The team hopes to compete for a Super Bowl in 2024, so they can’t afford to lose out on their first-round pick this time around. Another dynamic wide receiver would be beneficial to the Cowboys’ offense. While Lamb dominated the entire season, veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks struggled at times, and wide receiver Michael Gallup carried over his struggles from the 2022 campaign. To complement Lamb in the future, Dallas needs to get younger and more explosive, and the draft is the best way to do that without breaking the bank.
