The Dallas Cowboys are adding a seasoned defensive lineman back to the roster prior to the start of the free agency period. Carl Davis, a journeyman defensive tackle who may not be well-known to fans, looks to be returning to Dallas.

Patrik Walker, a writer for DallasCowboys.com, broke the story first on March 6. In addition to playing for a number of clubs, Davis was a member of the Cowboys in 2023.

Just in time for 2024 NFL free agency, nose tackle Carl Davis was added to the #Cowboys roster. Walker scribbled on X, “All in.” “After playing in three games for the #Cowboys in 2023, Carl Davis is back.” He was previously selected by the Ravens in the third round (2015) out of Iowa. He has also played for the Browns, Colts, Jaguars, Patriots, and Seahawks. In his 19 NFL starts, he has 68 total tackles.

Since Davis only made three appearances last year and only played thirty defensive snaps, there isn’t much to say about his 2023 campaign. In the process, he did manage three tackles, but no other noteworthy data were recorded.

The Baltimore Ravens selected former Iowa Hawkeye Davis in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He did not, however, turn out the way the team had hoped.

In 2016, Davis experienced an ankle injury at the worst possible time following a quiet rookie campaign. The defensive tackle had to establish his value going into 2017 because he missed the entire season.
