A home is being sought for this adorable deaf cat, who has been shunned by other moggies at the rescue centre because he has no ears.

Derrick was in a bad state when he was taken to the shelter in Berlin last year, severely undernourished and suffering intense pain.

The cause was down to growths inside his ear and vets at the centre were left with no choice but to remove the 10-year-old’s ear canal completely.

But now deaf and missing his ears, the kitty cannot get on with the other cats currently living with him.

Shelter nurse Franka Muller told NWZonline: “With the dogs he has no problem.

Shut out: Derrick doesn’t get on with the other cats at his rescue shelter (EPA)

“The other cats do not understand him and are unsettled as they cannot communicate with him.”

However, Derrick has no such problems with the staff, who have all fallen for him.

Franka added: “Early in the morning he sits down on a chair next to me on the coffee table.”

A search for a permanent home has now gone global and it is surely only a matter of time before Derrick finds a new family to call his own.
