Sheffield Wednesday have issued a statement following what they called “unacceptable incidents” before and after Saturday’s 1-0 loss to the Blues at Hillsborough.
A banner thanking owner Dejphon Chansiri was defaced by a disgruntled fan before the match, while several Town fans were attacked by supporters the following Wednesday.
A statement released by the club read:
“Following unacceptable incidents before and after our match against Ipswich Town on Saturday, the Owls are issuing a reminder about supporter behaviour.
One individual damaged other supporters’ banners and was immediately ejected from the stadium. This individual is now subject to full sanctions by the club and possible legal action.
“The club is also aware of the violent and disturbing videos circulating on social media following this meeting and advises anyone who can identify the perpetrators to report directly to the
“We condemn such actions in the strongest possible tone and completely distance ourselves from such behaviour, which undermines the club’s commitment to providing the safest possible environment for all supporters attending matches at Hillsborough.
“We reiterate that anyone suspected of breaching the EFL’s fundamental regulations will be subject to immediate sanctions by the club and the full extent of the law if necessary.
The EFL, Premier League, FA, FSA, PGMOL, LMA and PFA have jointly implemented a series of measures this season to tackle in-game behaviour
“This includes new policies, procedures and regulations aimed at eradicating unacceptable behaviour, as well as strengthening the sanctions imposed on any person identified on the ground, using fireworks, drug use at matches, throwing objects/rockets at the playing field or discriminatory abuse.
“The new measures build on the work carried out last season to combat dangerous and illegal fan behaviour, supported by the Love Football association. Protect the Game football campaign which Sheffield Wednesday fully supports.
Some fans posted incidents after the game.
After last year’s corresponding game, the Owls issued a similar statement after objects were thrown onto the field – one hitting a young fan on Wednesday in front of the stands – causing a delay in the game.

Southampton vs Ipswich Town
Southampton suffered another humiliating result on Friday night to return from the international break.
Russell Martin’s team entered the deadly period after a 0-5 defeat at the hands of Sunderland. Their return to competition ended with a 1-4 home defeat to promoted rivals Leicester City.
Jamie Vardy took the Foxes ahead after just 21 seconds, while Saints struggled to get back into the game from there.
Meanwhile, their opponents on Tuesday night are high-flying Ipswich Town, third in the table after their opening six games. Tractor Boys won 1-0 against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday to maintain their place in the top three.
Ipswich lead Southampton by five points after last weekend’s game and will therefore look to extend that gap into midweek when they face one of their main promotion rivals.
But Martin’s team will look to end the losing streak to improve their form with an impressive victory over Ipswich.
Here we take a look at all the key pre-match details ahead of their midweek clash at St. Mary’s…
What is the latest team information for Southampton vs Ipswich Town?
As things stand, Southampton will be without Kamaldeen Sulemana after he was dismissed late in the loss to Leicester on Friday night.
The winger made his first appearance of the season coming off the bench in the first half against the Foxes, but he failed to finish the game and will be out of action for a few games.
He replaces Samuel Edozie, who suffered fitness problems on Tuesday night and may not be available for selection.
Ross Stewart is also unavailable as he continues to recover from the Achilles injury suffered in January, with Jack Stephens also still injured. Kieran McKenna also has some injury issues to deal with ahead of Tuesday night’s game.
Defender Leif Davis had to leave the field just before half-time because of an injury that could prevent him from participating in Southampton’s trip, replaced by Brandon Williams.
Additionally, Christian Walton and Wes Burns also did not participate. McKenna may look to rotate a number of players ahead of this game given the quick action between games, but expect only one or two as the Ipswich boss will want to make as few changes as possible.
