Gary O’Neil has provided an update on Joe Hodge, following Wolves’ 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.
Wanderers suffered another loss in the Premier League, allowing the Red Devils to lose their 1-goal lead.
Hwang Hee-chan soon gave Wolves a deserved lead.
And the Wolves could have been two or three goals ahead at half-time.
But that didn’t happen, and Liverpool responded to Wolves worse in every way in the second half.
O’Neil was relatively optimistic after the game at times when the Wolves played that way. But he was unhappy with the way Liverpool’s second goal played out.
Joe Hodge is ready for Wolves to return early as O’Neil provides update
Speaking after the match, O’Neil provided an update on Hodge, who suffered a hamstring injury in his first appearance of the season against Blackpool in the Carabao Cup.
The international break has come at the right time for him and he will soon be back in the first team.
Suggesting players could be in contention when they face Luton Town on Saturday, O’Neil said (via Express & Star):
“Joe Hodge is back on the field and will be back with the group next week.”
Hodge hopes to return to competition as quickly as possible
Joe Hodge will have to put in a lot of effort in the match against Wolves
It was frustrating that Hodge was injured at that time.
But luckily there was an international break so he didn’t miss much.
But now he has to try to get as fit as possible.
This will be difficult to do as there are arguably four players ahead of him in the pecking order right now.
Joao Gomes and Mario Lemina were cast as O’Neil.
Bellegarde looks a great signing, and then there are other options in Doyle and Boubacar Traore.
But Hodge is a great character and he will do everything he can to impress O’Neil.
