southampton manager Russell Martin insists Ipswich Town are progressing in the Championship thanks to their energy and drive, but the Saints are yet to find it.
Martin’s side have suffered three consecutive defeats in the league and they are currently sitting in 13th position in the championship standings.
After back-to-back home losses at the hands of Leicester City and Ipswich, respectively, Saints are eyeing bagging three points from their trip to Middlesbrough on Saturday.
And Martin pointed out the key thing his side need to find to get the on-field rhythm moving forward.
He stressed that Ipswich’s impressive run in the league is propelled by their energy and momentum on the pitch, however, Saints have yet to discover a way to build them.
The English manager also lamented the lack of cohesion within the club and emphasised the necessity to bring it back.
“I am not passing excuses because we need to work to find a way through it, but there has been a lack of cohesion at this club”, Martin said at a press conference.
“There has been a lack of engagement with the supporters, a lack of connection here on the training ground and our job is to bring that back.
“I do it by adopting a different style and a completely different way of behaving.
“Hopefully now we can find a connection by being really honest with you and with the players
“We need to create energy and momentum.
“Ipswich have that and it puts them in a really good place. “We don’t have it, but we will find it.”
Southampton have revamped their squad this summer and are hoping to gain promotion right here at sea.
