Los Blancos did well to seriously strengthen their midfield in the summer transfer window, initially losing Tyler Adams, Marc Roca and Adam Forshaw.
Ethan Ampadu, Glen Kamara and Ilia Gruev arrive to replace the trio while Archie Gray also makes his long-awaited senior debut for the club.

Another midfielder the club were actively pursuing was Celtic star Matt O’Riley, who shone last season under Ange Postecoglou with four goals and 14 assists.

He’s started this season in the same fashion with four goals and two assists already under Brendan Rodgers, as Leeds tabled a £10million offer for the Danish under-21 international.

Celtic rejected Leeds’ eight-figure sum for the midfielder, as the Scottish Sun claimed a new contract could be on the way for the 22-year-old very soon.

Now, Sky Sports are claiming that the midfielder could be handed his first senior Denmark call-up for the upcoming international break.

On top of that, the report adds that he is attracting attention from across Europe as it stands

O’Riley would have been a great addition to our side and perhaps a better solution to our attacking midfield void.

His goals and assists return over the last year or so has been immense for Celtic and his future seems set in a bigger league than the Scottish Premiership.

The issue for us is that we don’t have the spending power in the Championship to justify paying what Celtic will want.

He could be the one that got away in a few years’ time.
