Leeds United return to Championship action on Saturday as they make the trip to Southampton.
The Whites will be looking to continue their fine recent run of form having picked up seven points from their three matches since the international break.
Leeds have also kept four consecutive clean sheets in the league for the first time since February 2020, with things now starting to click into place at both ends of the field under Daniel Farke.
Southampton, meanwhile, enter the clash at St. Mary’s having lost four league matches in a row and possessing the worst defensive record in the division.
However, they will be eager to arrest that run of form with Farke stating it is the worst possible time to face Southampton in his press conference on Thursday.
However, in his latest EFL predictions column for Sky Sports, David Prutton cannot see Southampton’s poor run of form ending here, tipping Leeds’ attack to be too much for their struggling defence.
He said: “Russell Martin is under real pressure now. Four defeats on the bounce is unacceptable for Southampton in this league. Even if it is early days. They don’t seem to be learning their lessons in defence, either.
“Leeds will be keen to capitalise. Their front four in full flow is a joy to behold, and if there is an early goal it could get messy at St Mary’s. Away win. Southampton 1-3 Leeds.“
There is no doubt Southampton will come out flying on Saturday but if Leeds can get an early goal and turn an already frustrated crowd against their team, it would be huge.
If Leeds’ attack can be clinical, there could be plenty of goals on offer for the likes of Joel Piroe and Georginio Rutter, but it will be vital they are wary at the other end, as Southampton still possess a host of top players for this division.
