Former Inter Milan goalkeeper Sebastian Frey rose to the defense of his successor and compatriot Yann Sommer.
The 34-year-old joined the club in the summer, completing a transfer from Bayern Munich.
The 43-year-old also discussed the Scudetto race. He believes that Inter have a more formidable squad than defending champions Napoli.
“I still find the Inter squad more complete than Napoli’s, regardless of last season’s outcome.
“After the 5-1 win over Milan, they said Simone Inzaghi is the best coach in the world. But now they’re saying different things after the defeat. The provocations are there but the record is proving him right.
“Sassuolo deserved the victory. They have now beaten both Inter and Juventus. Berardi is a great striker. In recent years he has become the bête noire of the Nerazzurri.
“However, I don’t question the squad. I still see a great Inter side.
“I still consider them the favorites for the Scudetto along with Milan, Juventus and Napoli.
The Nerazzurri were leading thanks to Denzel Dumfries’ opener. However, Nedim Bajrami grabbed the equalizer, beating Sommer at his near post. Domenico Berardi then scored the winner with a fabulous strike.
As for Frey, he admits that his Swiss compatriot should have done better on the equalizer. However, he insists that mistakes are part of the game.
“Sommer made a mistake. When you concede a goal at your near post then something didn’t go according to plan,” explains the former Inter and Fiorentina goalkeeper in his interview with TV Play via FcInterNews.
But there’s no point in questioning his abilities. If you look back at the match that Juventus lost to Sassuolo, you see two goalkeeping errors [from Wojciech Szczesny].
“The most striking error isn’t on the Laurientè’s goal but the one on Pinamonti’s. At these levels, these are errors in the concept of the game.
