Coming off arguably their best win of the season, the Boston Bruins wanted to match their details for Tuesday night’s game against the Calgary Flames.

The final 20-plus minutes look like that as the Bruins mounted a comeback in the third period and won the game, 4-3, in overtime on David Pastrnak’s 12th goal of the season to pull even on the road trip. But it didn’t start that way for the Bruins.

At the end of the first period, the only stat the Bruins excelled in was at the dot. Boston was a perfect 11-for-11 in faceoffs. However, Calgary dominated play in the opening frame, outshooting Boston 9-4 in the period.

“It was brutal,” Bruins forward Elias Lindholm said during NESN’s first intermission. “Nothing that we talked about, nothing that we did against Vancouver was there, so we’re lucky we’re at 0-0, tie game. It can’t get much worse than this.”

Unfortunately for Lindholm and the Bruins, it did get worse. The Flames scored three goals in the second period.
