Wolves have two players that are a booking each away from a suspension.

So far in this Premier League season, it seems as though we have been seeing players getting cautioned a lot more often than usual.

It is now much easier for players to talk their way into trouble. And kicking the ball away, even just by a couple of yards, can result in a yellow card.

Like many other Premier League clubs, the yellow cards are racking up at Wolves.

But with five yellows resulting in a one-game ban, who’s in danger of a suspension after seven games played…?

Midfielder Mario Lemina picked up his fourth yellow of the season in the win over Manchester City.

Mario Lemina and Nelson Semedo are walking the tightrope for Wolves

So far, there are two players at Wolves who are staring down the barrel of a one-game ban.

And Semedo also got a booking against City.

This one actually came just after the final whistle and was missed by many.

And it was also missed by media outlets. Even the Premier League’s official website apparently did not register the Semedo booking.

But Liam Keen said on the Express & Star podcast: “I did a bit of checking on this. Joao Gomes is on three already, Lemina is on four. So if he gets booked at Villa he’s missing Bournemouth away.

“And then Semedo… so I saw him get booked after the game after having a little conversation with Grealish. It was bang on full-time. I thought I was seeing things. I saw him get booked, and then I looked on every single website, even the Premier League website. Nowhere was he registered as having a yellow card.

So I spoke to some people at the club. They’ve confirmed he did get booked. So Semedo, with that yellow card against City, is also on four.”

So it looks very much as though Wolves will soon be losing both Lemina and Semedo to suspension.

That will be a big blow, with both players having been fantastic recently

It will be important for the likes of Matt Doherty, Jonny Castro Otto, Boubacar Traore and Tommy Doyle to make sure they are ready to be called upon.

They are the players Gary O’Neil is most like to turn to in their absence.
