The most recent Swans injury is not encouraging, but Sunderland’s situation is similar.

On Saturday afternoon, Swansea City and Sunderland square off at the Swansea.Com Stadium, with both teams’ first team lineup selections raising serious concerns. With some new injury news, the Black Cats departed for their lengthy journey south yesterday afternoon.

Let’s start with the Swans. Ben Cabango has been training this week and made his comeback last Friday against Blackburn Rovers, coming on as a very late substitute. He is still somewhat aware of his injury, though, so the first important question is: “Will head coach Michael Duff take a chance on him starting this game?”

It would be unwise to alter the defense’s stellar play over the past few weeks in order to force Cabango back into the starting lineup. Harrison Ashby has expressed his desire to keep reintroducing himself into the Swans starting lineup, but Duff is facing yet another challenge. Josh Key has been getting treatment for his injury from three weeks ago, which has kept him out of the game, all this week.

He is still experiencing pain, but much less than before. We’ll learn more later on in the day.

Ashby wants to push on of course. “I felt like it went pretty well at Blackburn and we will see what happens, although I should have scored with the chance I had late on so hopefully I’ll do better next time I am in that position

But I can feel the chemistry growing with the lads, the understanding is coming in terms of how the lads play and how I play alongside them. The gaffer is working with me on the things he wants me to do and improve on”
