When Tottenham plays West Ham on Thursday, Michael Antonio and Richarlison, the star of the team, will have an awkward reunion. When Callum Wilson of Newcastle and Antonio made fun of Richarlison’s meager goal total from his debut season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Richarlison retaliated angrily.

In his first full year at Spurs, Richarlison was not very successful, managing just three goals in all competitions. The Brazilian forward only managed one goal in the Premier League, and he gained an unwelcome reputation for gleefully celebrating goals that were later disallowed or deemed insignificant.

The 26-year-old scored an incredible last-second equalizer against Liverpool in April on one of those occasions. At Anfield, he dashed to the away end, removed his shirt, and waved it above his head. With Diogo Jota, Liverpool went straight up the other end to win the match.

Antonio and Wilson made fun of Richarlison’s celebration on their podcast, The Players’ Channel. Richarlison “scored four times [last] season,” Antonio pointed out in a hilarious way, joking that “three of the times he’s been offside, [so] he’s taken his top off four times.

But the comment did not go down well with Richarlison, who responded to a social media post by saying: “How many goals do both have [at] the World Cup?”
