Ryan Lowe, the manager of Preston North End, was pleased with how his team defeated Huddersfield Town 1-3 on Tuesday.
Alan Browne and Will Keane scored goals for the Lilywhites in the first half, and Ben Whiteman added a second goal with a well-executed long-range effort to give them their first Championship win in five games.
In order to return to winning ways ahead of their home match against Watford on Saturday, North End was dominant in possession and merciless in the final third. Following the game, Lowe conveyed his satisfaction with his team’s execution of the strategy.
“Yeah, you are always pleased when you’ve come away with three points and scored three goals,” Lowe after the game. “From beginning to end, I felt that the performance was different class. The objectives were accomplished well, and I’m happy about that. The strategy was to attack them as soon as possible because we anticipated having a significant amount of possession. The game plan tonight featured two eights and two strikers, which was different from Saturday’s slightly different approach.
We felt that we needed to make a few adjustments to shake things up. When they performed outside, the crowd had incredible energy. The boys have proven they can do it in the past, so I’ve always had faith in their ability. Although it’s okay that some people don’t agree with us and have doubts, it’s evidently pleasing to what we stand for and are trying to accomplish. We constantly strive to establish the tone early on, but occasionally teams will stop you.
“We needed to quickly move the ball from side to side. Moving them around, getting us into advantageous positions, getting Liam Millar and Pottsy on the ball, getting bodies forward and into the box, was how we perceived the game plan. They made adjustments and were now in the lead, so we had to regain control of the game. I believe that once we got the third, it somewhat depleted them of their stuffing. I am aware of the group I have, and they make an excellent team when they put in the necessary effort, behave morally every day, and carry out the game plans.
