The Carolina Panthers’ depressing performance in Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints was indicative of their continued
difficulties in the 2023 NFL season. The Panthers lost and prolonged their losing run to six games in spite of a strong running game in the first half. Bryce Young at quarterback led the passing game, which continued to be a big worry. Both supporters and critics are angry about this poor performance and are demanding responsibility from all tiers of the company. We will examine the main players who bear the greatest responsibility for the Panthers’ disappointing defeat as well as the team’s larger problems in this piece.
In the most recent blow to their difficult season, the Panthers were complicit in their own downfall when playing the Saints. The pivotal moment came in the second quarter when Saints linebacker Nephi Sewell stopped Johnny Hekker’s attempt at a punt. D’Marco Jackson profited from the confusion that followed. What was called a fumble was recovered by him, and he returned it eight yards for a touchdown. New Orleans was able to take a 14-3 lead as a result. The Saints didn’t turn around.
The second half presented more difficulties for the Panthers. Twice they had chances inside the Saints’ 20-yard line, but they were only successful on one of their two field goal attempts. Their 1-of-7 performance on fourth downs served as more evidence of their difficulties. Carolina’s problems were compounded by Young’s ongoing struggles throughout the season—a subject we’ll cover in more detail below.

In the Week 14 game against the Saints, rookie quarterback Bryce Young did not perform well in spite of obstacles and little help. With a 36.1 percent completion rate, he set a season low. Young completed just 13 of 36 passes for 137 yards, including three 40-yard rushes. In addition, he fumbled, which added to the Panthers’ 28-6 loss. His dismal first-half performance, which included losing a fumble and only finishing three of 15 passes for 29 yards, set the tone. The Panthers did not score a touchdown in the second half, despite some improvement. This left him with little to show for the ill-fated excursion. Though he only lost by one rushing yard from his career high, the uncertainties surrounding the 2023 first-round selection are growing as
