Following a terrible offensive performance, Falcons coach Arthur Smith is under fire from supporters and fantasy players.

Arthur Smith, head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, has an abundance of talented players at his disposal. However, the offense disappoints Falcons supporters and fantasy football players week after week.

That was the case on Sunday as well, losing 9–7 to the lowly Carolina Panthers despite the Falcons offense managing just seven points.

An offense with a decent offensive line and three consecutive top ten picks on skill players—tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London, and running back Bijan Robinson—should not be posting such appalling totals.

Without a doubt, the onus of responsibility for a loss shifts to the offense when your defense fails to allow a touchdown throughout the entire contest. They had a dreadful total of just 202 offensive yards for the entire day. It was, indeed, in a torrential downpour. However, in the same circumstances, the outmanned Panthers offense managed 283 yards.

The Falcons’ record now stands at 6-8, one game behind the Saints and Buccaneers in the NFC South. In the NFC Wild Card race, they’re also a game behind. It’s as bad a loss as they could have had at this point in the season, especially since it came against the 1–12 Carolina Panthers.

It is Arthur Smith’s responsibility. On Sunday, just thirteen touches were accumulated by those three top picks. By himself, Tyler Allgeier had fourteen. What possible sense does that make? Why are he and the management selecting players with first-round picks who they won’t play? It is illogical.

From a fantasy football standpoint, today was many leagues’ first playoff week. If you’ve ever played either of the two fantasy plays London or Pitts, you know that they are both dangerous productions. It’s hilarious that Bijan Robinson, the best player in the offense, only receives eight touches in a game that the team has to win. In addition to possibly ruining the Falcons’ season, Arthur Smith also ended the fantasy football careers of hundreds of thousands of players.

Fortunately for Falcons supporters, I don’t believe Smith will be permitted to terrorize football in Atlanta come next season. There ought to be better times ahead.
