The Detroit Pistons’ 2023–24 season has gotten off to an utterly disastrous start. The team is experiencing one of the worst losing streaks in franchise history, despite adding former NBA Coach of the Year Monty Williams and selecting Overtime Elite star Ausar Thompson in the draft.
Detroit has lost 22 straight games going into their game against the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night. They are getting close to breaking the all-time record of 28 straight games set by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014–15 and 2015–16. For the two-win team to try and have a better season finale and prepare for a true turnaround year in 2024–2025, something has to change soon.
The NBA trade market is one way the Pistons can improve their roster before the February deadline. Rising star and defensive ace OG Anunoby of Toronto is a player who is probably going to be available.
