Falcons’ next head coach is most likely to be Belichick or Ben Johnson.

After an unmemorable season finale, it was announced that Arthur Smith, who finished 7-10 in each of his three seasons, would be leaving Atlanta.

This season, the Falcons failed to live up to expectations on a regular basis. While I assign greater blame to Desmond Ridder, Smith’s decision to gamble on a third-round pick was also a contributing factor.

Although it’s unfortunate that Smith might have made the playoffs if he hadn’t been so obstinate about Ridder’s status as a quarterback and had realized in 2022 that Mariota wasn’t the right fit, we move on.

The Falcons have only been linked to one possible head coach as of right now, and that man isn’t yet open for hire. According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the team is one that will be considering Bill Belichick.

It follows that Jim Harbaugh of Michigan, Raheem Morris of the Rams, Bobby Slowik of the Texans, and Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson are the next in line to be the head coach of the Falcons, making him the clear favorite in the betting.

Along with Joe Brady, who is currently in charge of the Bills offense, two other coordinators from the Ravens, Todd Monken and Mike McDonald, should also be given serious consideration as candidates. The Falcons should not restrict their options and instead should cast a wide net.Atlanta Falcons Playoff Picture: Where Do They Stand After Loss vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers? - Sports Illustrated Atlanta Falcons News, Analysis and More
Although I’m not sure which I would prefer, I believe that Belichick would be a desperate move made by a winning owner. The only issue is that, in the long run, that might not be the best course of action.
The Falcons need to find the next Kyle Shanahan, hopefully!
