13 Players Re-Signed by the New Orleans SaintsNew Orleans Saints; Three Not Included in 2023 Squad
The New Orleans Saints made a significant roster move when they signed 13 members of their 2023 practice squad to reserve/future contracts in anticipation of the highly anticipated 2024 campaign. Three players, though, have not had their contracts immediately renewed by the team: rookie receiver Shaquan Davis, wide receiver Marquez Callaway, and offensive lineman Colby Gossett.
The majority of reserve/future contracts are minimum-wage arrangements that guarantee a player a spot on the team’s 90-man offseason roster. In the NFL, these contracts are standard operating procedure; they allow teams to retain promising players without having to pay high salaries. Notably, once practice squad contracts expire, the Saints will still be able to scout and sign other players in the league despite their most recent action.
