Executive VP of football operations for the Panthers is former Chiefs salary cap expert Brandt Tilis.

On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs suffered a major blow to their front office.

Brandt Tilis, a former vice president of football operations for the Chiefs, was named executive vice president of football operations by the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday.

Tilis joins a Panthers team that recently added former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales as head coach and Dan Morgan as president of football operations.

Tilis was the Chiefs’ principal contract negotiator in Kansas City.

Panthers general manager Dan Morgan praised Brandt’s experience and said, “It’s great to add him to our organization.” “He will play a key role in our front office and comes from a Kansas City team that is championship caliber.”

Tilis played for the Chiefs for 14 seasons, serving as vice president of football operations for the final three of those seasons.

As Kansas City’s chief contract negotiator since 2017, Tilis was in charge of arranging Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year, $450 million contract extension in 2020.
