Georgia’s Athens The Georgia Bulldogs, who had a lead of more than twenty-three minutes, lost to South Carolina 72-62, dropping them to 14-8 overall and 4-5 (ninth) in the SEC. When asked about their defensive play during the game, Georgia head coach Mike White responded, “We pressed most of the game,” and South Carolina “had their way on the interior.” The Bulldogs gave up 40 points in the paint to the Gamecocks. The Dawgs’ offensive performance fell short of their season average (77.2 points per game), scoring 62 points tonight and just 22 in the second 40 minutes. “We didn’t shoot it the way we needed to shoot it down the stretch,” White said in response to a question concerning the second half’s shooting. White also acknowledged the South’s strength.
The Dawgs will play Mississippi State on the road the following Wednesday, February 7, at 9 PM EST. According to White, the Dawgs must “reevaluate this weekend and on Monday” and will “focus on everything.”
