Georgia signee Asa Newell speaks on program

The Bulldogs, who started the season 12-3 before joining the conference, have only won 4 games in the conference and face a challenging final schedule.

They will add 6-foot-9, 205-pound forward Asa Newell, who is currently ranked No. 13 in the class of 2024 and the No. 2 power forward in the class, even though this season may not go as planned.

“I think I’m needed out there,” Newell remarked. “There’s really nothing to say other than Coach Mike White is doing an amazing job, in my opinion. I just know that I can finish plays for them and be of great assistance when I get there.

Newell hasn’t been back to Athens since he made his commitment, but the staff has continued to be in touch with him and his family and has attended several practices together.

“I haven’t been there recently, but my family and I went up there last weekend,” he remarked. “However, they’ve shown up to practices and told me how eager and ready they are to have me on campus.”

Since Newell is the only commit in the 2024 class, Georgia currently has the 73rd best recruiting class overall. Newell, one of the best recruits in program history, has been observing their performance and is eager for the upcoming campaign.

He remarked, “I’ve noticed that when they’re down, they fight and play hard.” Additionally, I am aware that player development will take place. Guys are acting in ways that they weren’t at the start of the season, in my opinion.

Newell’s primary focus will be on strengthening and developing his entire skill set prior to arriving at campus.

He declared, “I just want to be more physical, aggressive, and dominant before I get there.” “I think I’m just now getting into that. In addition, I want to guard every position, improve my handle, and become a proficient knockdown shooter. I feel like I’ve gained more confidence since the McDonald’s All-American incident. It made me feel resentful.”
