Although the Cincinnati Bengals are regarded as one of the most refined teams in the NFL, they have a custom of acting differently when facing their biggest interdivisional rival. The Cincinnati Bengals revealed earlier in the season that they had granted superstar quarterback Joe Burrow a massive contract extension right before the Kansas City Chiefs’ season opener against the Detroit Lions kicked off. Although it wasn’t officially stated, it was evidently a jab at Kansas City, as the Cincinnati team endeavours to outdo their rival from the Midwest in every manner possible.
Cincinnati looks to be carrying on with that pattern as they make significant coaching announcements three days before their biggest rivals’ big game. The organisation announced on Thursday morning that they had added three new coaches to their staff. While this may not seem like a big deal, it is a big deal this early in the offseason.
In an effort to do their research, the team also took the anticipated step of elevating assistant quarterbacks coach Brad Kragthorpe to the position of quarterbacks coach following a few brief interviews. Under head coach Zac Taylor, Kragthorpe began as an offensive assistant in 2019 and has since advanced through the ranks. The fact that the team hired Kragthorpe indicates that they plan to keep familiar faces close to their devoted star quarterback and will do everything in their power to keep him in good standing with the management.
