Although the University of Michigan defeated Washington in the national championship game, they lost out on a four-star recruit as a result of head coach Jim Harbaugh’s decision to leave the Wolverines.
In 2024, Michigan’s recruiting class ranks No. 15, and the team still has four linebacker signees. Among them are Pittsburgh Central Catholic players. Cole Sullivan, Belleville (Mich.), four stars South Park (Pa.), Nashville Ensworth four-star Mason Curtis, and Jeremiah Beasley, all four stars Zach Ludwig, a three-star prospect, is still a possibility for Michigan right now.
Linebacker Jaden Smith requested to be released from his national letter of intent, despite having committed to the Wolverines in June. Although Harbaugh had recruited the 6-2, 195-pound Smith to the program, Smith had no interest in attending Michigan and playing for new head coach Sherrone Moore after the Michigan head coach decided to leave and join the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers.
Smith attempted to announce his choice in a responsible manner. Expressing gratitude to Harbaugh and the other Michigan coaches, he said he enjoyed spending time with them.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Coaches Rick Minter, Herb, Roney, JB, Minter, Clink, and Harbaugh for their support and faith in me. I hope our football paths cross again in the future because you guys are like family.
