In 2024, a different coach will not be rejoining the Houston Texans.

Stephen Adegoke, the coach of the Texans’ safeties, is being hired by the University of Michigan to replace Sherrone Moore as their secondary coach, according to reports from KPRC2 News.

Adegoke, 29, previously served as the defensive quality control coach for the San Francisco 49ers before spending one season with the Texans under head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Adegoke worked as a defensive analyst for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan in 2021 before joining the NFL. He also spent two seasons, starting in 2019, as a graduate assistant with Florida.

With Adegoke’s assistance, the Texans’ pass coverage ranking was 23rd. During the regular season, Houston’s secondary recorded 16 interceptions, with former first-round pick Derek Stingley Jr. leading the team with five.

Adegoke spent most of his time with Jalen Pitre and Jimmie Ward as the safeties coach. After joining Ryans from San Francisco, Ward was productive while healthy, but he did miss the final three games due to an injury that ended his season.
