The Villans star was included in the lineup following his “commanding” performance over the weekend for Unai Emery’s team.
Villa defeated Fulham 2-1 last Saturday, bouncing back from their 2-1 home loss to Manchester United on February 11.
Ollie Watkins gave the Villans the lead in the 23rd minute when he headed in a cross from Jacob Ramsey.
On minute 56, Watkins scored again, this time from a through-ball from Youri Tielemans to double Villa’s lead.
Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham did cut the deficit in half in the 63rd minute, but the Villans managed to hold on for the three points.
Watkins was noticeable for his brace, but Torres also made an impact at the back after recovering from an ankle injury.
In addition to winning four duels in the air and on the ground, the Spaniard registered a weight of six clearances and two tackles.
Because of his efforts, Torres and Watkins, his Villa teammate, were included in Shearer’s Team of the Week.
He posted on the Premier League website, saying, “With him in it, Villa are a better team.”
“And that was demonstrated once more with a dominant display in the victory at Fulham.
The Birmingham Mail stated, “You could see what a difference Torres’ return made within the first few minutes of the game.”
“Villa were in control today, more collected and confident. 8 points (10 possible).
After the game on X, ESPN journalist Luis Miguel Echegaray provided a very helpful summary of the situation.
“I was at Craven Cottage today, and Pau Torres has an absolutely unmatched impact on the starting XI,” the writer wrote.
He maintains rhythmic fluidity and continuity even when under duress. He is without a doubt among the greatest AVFC signings ever.
Torres’ return to action is greatly appreciated as Villa has struggled while he was sidelined.
