Jones fracture in right foot prevents Alabama wide receiver Kool-Aid McKinstry from playing at the combine.

A possible first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry of Alabama, is sidelined by a foot ailment.

According to individuals with knowledge of the incident, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport revealed on Friday that the All-American cornerback’s right foot was found to have a Jones fracture during his NFL Scouting Combine medical evaluations.

Rapoport reports that although McKinstry won’t work out in Indianapolis, he is anticipated to do so at Alabama’s pro day in order to resolve the matter. By training camp, the corner should be at full strength.

A fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone on the side of the foot corresponding to the pinky toe is called a Jones fracture. Increased exercise or jogging on uneven terrain might result in these fractures.

McKinstry participated in 42 games over his three seasons at Alabama, recording 93 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, and 23 passes defensed.

Daniel Jeremiah, draft analyst for NFL Media, had the corner ranked 35th overall in his rankings before the selection.
