Bengals: NFL insider adds to the rumour surrounding the Tee Higgins trade

Although wide receiver Tee Higgins was designated by the Cincinnati Bengals as a franchise player, there is still talk that the organisation may try to deal Higgins during the summer.

ESPN NFL source Dan Graziano claims that at the 2024 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, there was a lot of talk about a possible deal involving Higgins.

“Many in Indianapolis seemed to believe that Tee Higgins was just franchised by the Bengals so they could move him. Cincinnati may not be able to keep the group together around Joe Burrow for very long because a Ja’Marr Chase extension is probably forthcoming this summer or next.

Technically, the Bengals could probably afford to pay both Chase and Higgins given the increase in the NFL salary ceiling for the upcoming season. That is quite another matter, though, if they wish to do that. It’s reasonable to question whether it makes sense to give two receivers this much pay space in the modern NFL.
