UNA Director of Athletics Dr. Josh Looney stated, “The Lions are thrilled to return to ESPN’s Week 0 programming and open the 2024 college football season in the FCS Kickoff Game.” “This is an opportunity for the University of North Alabama to be recognised both nationally and in our home state. I’m confident that our supporters, student-athletes, and alumni will appreciate the first-rate hospitality that surrounds this game. The City of Montgomery puts on a first-rate event. A glimpse of the amazing momentum happening at UNA is our third nationally televised game in a calendar year and our second consecutive season opener on ESPN.

On Saturday, August 24, Week Zero of the FCS Kickoff, North Alabama takes on the Southeast Missouri Redhawks in the inaugural game of the 2024 season. The Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Alabama will host the game.

On August 31, the Lions will travel to play the Memphis Tigers after the FCS Kickoff. On September 7, North Alabama takes on the Illinois State Redbirds in the first game of its home schedule in Florence, Alabama’s Braly Memorial Stadium.

On September 28, North Alabama hosts West Georgia in its United Athletic Conference (UAC) opener at home. Other UAC opponents scheduled to come to Florence in 2024 include Southern Utah on November 16, Austin Peay on November 2, and Abilene Christian on October 12 (Homecoming).
